About Us

The objectives of the Olive Tree Institute NPC include:

  • To provide a balanced basic general Academic Education to all learners;
  • To build the social character of the learners;
  • To inspire kids towards knowledge.
  • To further the interests, well-being and total education of all learners and members of the community;
  • To foster co-operation and sound relationships among parents, teachers and the community at large encouraging further self-education in the understanding of the relationship between society and education;
  • Work in collaboration with other organisations that hold similar objectives.

Who is behind the project

The Olive Tree Institute is registered as a Non Profit Company along with the Al-Fidaa Foundation, an NPO based in the Eastern Cape, responsible for the co-ordination of the project.

Members of the Olive Tree Institute NPC:

Ml Mahmood Kara

A graduate of Darul Uloom Zakariyyah, with prior teaching experience at Khanqah Madrasah Sheikh Zakariyyah in Lenasia, Johannesburg, and is currently teaching at the Beacon Bay Madrasah.

Ml Nazir Munshie

Founder and Chairperson of the Al-Fidaa Foundation formed in August 2008, a registered non profit organization (NPO 070-651) alleviating poverty in the Eastern Cape through Soup Kitchen and Feeding Projects, Skills Development Initiatives, Social Welfare including Food Hampers, AgriProjects and Free counselling services (www.alfidaa.co.za)Al Fidaa has endeavoured to establish makâtib (afternoon madrasahs) in underprivileged areas in and around Port Elizabeth.

Sho’ayb Amodjee

A member of the Al-Fidaa Foundation since 2010, and responsible for the financial management of the organization and various initiatives.

Mohammed Ebrahim Matvad

A member of the Al-Fidaa Foundation since 2012, serving in official capacity as the Public Relations Officer and Admin Manager.

Naadir Brood

A member of the Al-Fidaa Foundation since 2013, he has been responsible for the management of the soup kitchen operations.

Ismail Fazel Jogie

Qualified Teacher, teaching since 1999 in Butterworth at New Horizon School until March 2002. Educator at East London High School, thereafter holding a permanent post at Buffalo Flats Primary  from April 2002 until March 2017. Currently at Cranberry Primary School, where he was appointed HOD, since April 2017.
